Devour Evil
Devour evil (seen above) is a 2D animated short film I spent my animation production workshop 2 class working on. My initial concept started from the desire to push my animation skills in a new way, specifically I wanted to animate a character being propelled by rocket from the hips. From there I decided gargoyles could be a fun subject to experiment with, and by combining these two elements I began structuring the feel and story of the film. Below I have the various steps in the pipeline to show how the idea progressed overtime.

At the start I explored different silhouettes, for both the head and body, that could work for the gargoyle character.

These are the developed designs of the 2 characters. The first being the gargoyle and the second being the vandal that is chased. The colors of the vandal were switched around during production and so these aren’t the final colors.
Vertical slices from early into the production vs by the end of it. As I got more feedback and worked through it more I was able to better construct the visual style that interested me.
The final animatic constructed before moving into production.
